CBC has a mixed funding model, i.e., government funding and revenues from advertising. The revenue from advertising is invested in creating content and fulfilling our mandate as Canada’s national public broadcaster.

Ad personalization doesn’t target you individually. Rather, ads are personalized to groups of people whose use of CBC websites and apps indicates that they share certain interests and characteristics. For example, if a group of people watch comedy shows like “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” on CBC Gem, we might show them ads about new CBC comedy shows in the future.
